Research Interests
Briefly described, my interests can be organised as follows:
Medical Electronics |
My main interests lay in the area of Clinical Engineering, the use/develoment/maintenance of Medical Electronics from sophisticated disposable equipment to highly advanced latest generation MRI, CT scanners and LINACS. |
Rehabilitation |
I find excitement on designing state of the art means of locomotion systems i.e. exoskeletons, wheelchairs, home-therapy assessment systems and assistive devices for the impaired and generaly people who need help. |
Biomechanics |
Although time consuming, simulation of human biomechanics when it comes to rehabilitation engineering is one of my favourite. Interest lies in the areas where simulations can be applied on artificial limbs extending the limited motion of the impaired to a full range healthy motion. |
Robotics & Control |
Control of intelligent robotic systems, either in combination with biomechanics or in regards to stand alone robotic systems is a relatively new field to me however, equally interesting as the biomechamics simulations. An application of interest on which I worked for a short period of time within a group was that of a colon exploration microrobot. |
