Group leader

Michalis Vassiliou (in Greek: Μιχάλης Βασιλείου) is currently an Assistant Professor with the Department of Civil Engineering of NTUA.

From 2019-2025 he was an non Tenure Track Assistant Professor and head of the Chair of Seismic Design and Analysis in the ETH Zürich. He is a Civil Engineer and has studied in NTU Athens (Diploma 2004), UC Berkeley (MSc 2006), and University of Patras (PhD 2010). He was a Postdoc and a Senior Assistant in the ETH (2012-2019).

His research interests lie in the fields of Earthquake Engineering, Applied Mechanics, and Nonlinear Dynamics, with a special focus on rocking, seismic isolation, and applications of 3D printing on seismic testing of structures.
