RESEARCH INTERESTS

MINING GEOTECHNICS: geotechnical aspects of mining and lignite mining, with focus on deep surface excavations, geotechnical characterization of mining and industrial wastes, geotechnical aspects of the post-lignite era, climate change, environmental geotechnics.

PROBABILISTIC AND STOCHASTIC ANALYSIS IN GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING: characterization of geotechnical uncertainty and variability, development of probabilistic - stochastic models and of computation techniques for reliability assessment of geotechnical works, risk analysis in geotechnical engineering, coupled probabilistic - numerical analyses.

NUMERICAL MODELING OF GEOTECHNICAL STRUCTURES: retaining structures, reinforced soil - reinforced earth, slope stability (in mining and civil works).
