Short CV


Dr. Paraskevas Tsangaratos is currently an Assistant Professor at the Laboratory of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology of the School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) Greece. He also has a contract as a Αdjunct Αcademic Staff at the Hellenic Open University supervising a number of master thesis and lecturing in the Short Program Studies “Natural Catastrophic Hazards in the light of Climate Change”. Since December of 2017 he is a Member of the GIS Research Group, Ton Duc Thang University, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, having as main activities and responsibilities, to conduct high quality research in the field of geographic information science, focusing on GIS-based applications for solving real-world problems, and especially, on urgent problems of the social demand. He holds a Mining Engineering Diploma (2000) and a Ph.D degree from the School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering, NTUA (2012). He teaches the cources: Introduction to Programming (Python), Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Engineering Geology and Geohazards. His main research interest and activity is focused on the application of Geographical Information Systems, Computational Mechanics and Machine Learning algorithms in the area of Natural Hazard analysis and assessments, Engineering Geology, Hydrogeology and Environmental Geology. He is involved in writing source code and developing Mobile applications with focus on GeoScience. He has participated as researcher in more than 22 research programs funded by the European Union, the Greek government and private sources. He has published more than 50 publications in leading scientific journals and international and national scientific conferences. His current citations (May 2022) are 1808 according to SCOPUS resulting to an h-index of 20.
