July 1982: Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, diploma thesis entitled: “Analysis of main transient phenomena of a synchronous generator” (Grade: 1st Class Honours).
June 1983: Diplome d’Etudes Approfondies (DEA) de Genie Electrique of the University PARIS VI, diploma thesis entitled: “Analysis of eddy currents and iron losses of a variable reluctance electrical machine” (Grade: 2nd Class Honours).
June 1987:         PhD thesis of the University of PARIS VI, option “Electrotechnique”, prepared in the “Laboratoire de Genie Electrique” of SUPELEC, thesis entitled: “Contribution in eddy currents modeling in solid conducting parts of electromagnetic systems”,  (Grade: 1st Class Honours).

He participated in 15 national and 11 international research projects in 10 of which he was scientific responsible.
Dr. Kladas' research interests include electric machine and transformer design and modeling as well as power system and industrial drive analysis under steady state and dynamic conditions.
