3D Rendering
Immediately after the earthquake of 1999 in Athens, the Laboratory of Photogrammetry of NTUA was commissioned by the Ministry of Culture to proceed to a full Geometric Documentation of the damaged Katholikon of the Dafni Monastery, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Monument.

Contemporary digital surveying and photogrammetric techniques were implemented for the first time to produce digital orthophotographs at scales of 1:25 for the monument and 1:5 for all mosaics of the interior. In addition developments of mosaics were also produced which were on developable and non-developable surfaces, employing innovative digital techniques. Although terrestrial laser scanners were not available at the time a 3D visualization both of the exterior and the interior of the Katholikon was also produced.
