Archbishop Neophytos of Morfou and the Department of Antiquities of Cyprus have granted a
permanent permission to the Laboratory of Photogrammetry and Prof. Marinos Ioannides, then of HTI
Nicosia, inorder to proceed to the geometric Documentation of all ten Byzantine Curches of Troodos
Mountain in Cyprus,another UNESCO World Heritage Monument.
The Church of our Lady in Asinou, was the first of these churches to be documented within the compilation of the Diploma Thesis of Ms. Ermioni Sophocleous. Classical surveying techniques and Digital Photogrammetric methods were employed in conjunction with terrestrial laser scanning. Both the outside and the inside, with the world famous frescoes,of the church were documented. Orthophotographs were produced at a scale of 1:50 and a video was also compiled, which constirutes a virtual visit to this marvellous church.
