APHRODITE: Three-dimensional photogrammetric representation in Byzantine
Churches with virtual personalized touring methods
In this GSRT funded project for the co-operation of Greece and Cyprus an system was developed,
based on simple web applications, in order to enable the visitor to virtually tour the Byzantine
Churches of Troodos Mountain, which are characterized as a Worlld heritage Monument by UNESCO.
Simple tools as Google Earth and Google Sketch-up were employed in order to enable the three dimensional visualization of all ten churches in situ. Essential information was also included in the web application.
