Holds a diploma degree from the School of Rural and Surveying Engineering, NTUA (1992), and a PhD from the
Dept. of Geomatics, University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK (1996). In the past (1996-2000) he worked for the
oil exploration industry in the UK and the USA as a geodetic engineer and positioning scientist and supervisor in
seismic acquisition programs in Europe and West Africa. Between 2001 and 2004 he was responsible for the
design of the geodetic infrastructure for the construction of civil engineering projects in Greece, and has served
the Athens Water Supply and Sewerage Company SA as the Head of the Topographic Dept. (2002-2003).
He is
currently co-chair of IAG (Int. Assoc. Geodesy) Com. 4 “Positioning and Applications”, and Vice-chair of FIG
(Int. Federation of Surveyors), WG 6.1 “Deformation Measurement and Analysis”.

quality assessment, low-cost and smartphone positioning, various applications of satellite geodesy.
• methods and multi-sensor (GNSS augmentation) systems and applications for outdoor / indoor
positioning and navigation, wireless sensor networks for localization, sensor fusion and estimation
theory, collaborative positioning and navigation for ITS.
• deformation monitoring and analysis of the static, quasi-static and dynamic behaviour of structures and
physical processes and applications using multi-sensor systems (GNSS, Radar, DIC, conventional, etc).
