About me
I am currently a PhD student at the Control Systems Lab, in the School of Mechanical Engineering of National Technical University of Athens, Greece. My advisor is Professor Kostas J. Kyriakopoulos.
I received my diploma from the School of Mechanical Engineering of NTUA in 2006. My diploma thesis was on Inverse Design of Turbomachine Blades using Ant Colony Optimization.

My research focuses on Conflict Resolution and Collision Avoidance algorithms for Autonomous Aircraft, and applications in Air Traffic Management. Because Conflict Resolution is criticaly important for flight safety, I am especially interested in algorithms that can provide guaranteed performance. Since aircraft are modeled as nonholonomic, unicycle-like agents, nonholonomic control techniques are a major area of my research.
So far I have worked on extending the Navigation Function framework, which is a class of Artificial Potential Field methods offering guaranteed stability and collision avoidance. My aim is to adapt this methodology to the specific characteristics of Air Traffic Control. In doing so, I have extended the NF framework to the case of decentralised control of multiple nonholonomic (unicycle-like) agents in 3D space, and have presented results on constant and low-bounded velocity navigation. Moreover I have worked with professor's John Lygeros' group to present a control strategy combining Navigation Functions and Model Predictive Control, in order to better handle constraints.
