I obtained my PhD degree from the School of Chemical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) under the supervision of Prof Andreas G. Boudouvis and the CIRIMAT laboratory of the Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse (INPT) under the supervision of Dr Thomas Duguet and Dr Constantin Vahlas. I am mainly interested in the Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) process and my research includes both experimental work and computational modeling. The CVD is a suitable process for the production of intermetallic compounds and alloys with multifuctional properties in a wide range of applications (e.g. catalysis). The modeling of a CVD process is multiscale for the simulation of mechanisms occuring at different length scales; it accounts for the transport phenomena and the involved chemistry at the reactor scale (macroscale) and for the evolution of the formed surfaces (nanoscale) by simulating adsorption, desorption and migration surface events. In this way we are able to model the CVD process from the inlet of the reactor to the surface features and properties of the films. Beside CVD, I am also interested in bioengineering issues such as the simulation of the phenotypic behavior of cell populations by alternative modeling frameworks (e.g. "Equation-Free" and coarse-grained simulations).
