RESEACH PROJECTS

 

Contrubution to over 25 research projects from the EU and/or General Secretariat of Research and Technology (GGET), as a scientific responsible or main investigator. These projects concerned with aeronautics, trains, composite materials, acoustic analysis of gear-boxes, cracks in aluminium specimens, packaging, biomechanics, natural gas pipe design, refineries, e.t.c. Between these projects, we select the following:

 

  • Determination of stress distribution during crack propagation in aluminium sheets.

  • Formation of fatigue cracks under stochastic loading. BEM analysis in the area of the initial crack.

  • Computational and design data base for belt design, PAVE with ETEKA SA

  • Design of a boogie, PAVE with OSE (Hellenic Railways)

  • BRITE/EURAM: Euromesh: Adaptive mesh generation Euro-mesh, BRITE/EURAM project Aero008 (1990-1992)

  • PENED: Composite materials in external car panels: 1990 (2.500.000 GRD)

  • PAVE: (Optimization of PVC reinforced pipes. PLEXACO S.A., 1993-1994). 20 million GRD.

  • CAO: Computer Aided in Orthodontics (1993-1995). BIOMED1 EU-project. Contract     No. BMH1-CT93-1712 CAO. (Main investigator: EU contribution: 90.000 ECU)

  • CAD/CAM transfer into packaging engineering. SPRINT project SPI008 (1992-1994). (Scientific responsible. EU contribution: 186.000 ECU for INTELLTECH S.A., Greece. Total budget: 2.8 BECU)

  • Safety study for gas transmission of natural gas  (1996-1997)

  • Stress analysis of the FCC piping system in ELDA Refinery  S.A. (Aspropyrgos, Greece) (1996-1997)

  • EPEAEK Biomedical Engineering: 20 million GRD.

  • ΕΚΒΑΝ: Reinforced Plastics (Development of Total Hip Replacement model using acrylic cement)

  • ARCHIMEDES: Basic Research Program: Estimation of motion and shape from 2-D views. Fund by EPISEY (4 million GRD)

  • Studies and calculations for Naval Engineering. Crane of Elefsis Shipyards

  • Development of an integrated methodology of dental restorations using dental implants (PENED 2001)

  • Development of an holographic method and instrumentation for characterizing art-items (PENED 2001, cooperation with ITE, Heraclion)

  • ISYDENT: Integrated Systems for Patient Dependent Treatment Planning and Execution in Dental Care. Πρόγραμμα Accompanying Measures, Life Sciences.

  • Bilateral Cooperation between Greece and Slovenia: Development of micromechanical models to simulate the mechanical behaviour of textiles.

  • IMMG SA: Numerical study of the seismic behaviour of a metallic protective cage (shalter)

  • Optimum design of cranes: PAVET-NE

  • Inter-departmental Cooperation between NTUA-TEI Peiraueus (Textiles Project: ARCHIMEDES)
  • "PROTAGORAS", Investigation on CAD CAE Integration, Basic Research Project funded by N.T.U.A
