Christoforos Dimopoulos studied Civil Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (Diploma, 2004). He then specialized in the Analysis and Design of Structures (MSc, 2006) and continued
to receive a Doctorate in Structural Engineering (PhD, 2012) from the same university. Then he worked as Civil Engineer at Larnaca Water Board in Cyprus (2013-2015), post-doctoral Marie-Curie Research Fellow
at the University of Warwick (2015-2017), and as KTP Research Associate at Oxford Brookes University (2018-2019).
Since February 2019 Christoforos is serving as Lecturer in Civil Engineering at Teesside University, where he is teaching structural engineering related modules, including Design of Concrete Structures,
Structural Analysis and Design, Advanced Structural Design and Advanced Structural Analysis with Dynamics. His research interests are focused on the behavior and ultimate strength of structural members, connections
and structural systems against normal loads, and accidental or seismic hazards, incorporating integrated computational modeling and testing. Past and current research focuses on the development of novel structural connections
for advanced seismic response of buildings, the robustness assessment of steel buildings, the stiffening of manhole openings in tubular steel wind turbine towers and the stability behavior and strength of steel arches.
